The spectacle of the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games Opening Ceremony will be like no other event in Seattle.

The Opening Ceremony kicks off six extraordinary days of competition and special events where the abilities of athletes with intellectual disabilities will be celebrated at the national level. Thousands of Seattleites and visitors will experience the transformative power of sport, and the positive impact of a more inclusive world for all.

Spectators will be immersed in the spirit of the Pacific Northwest while witnessing ceremonial traditions such as the Parade of Athletes and the lighting of the Special Olympics Flame of Hope. The festivities will also feature music and entertainment by some of today’s hottest artists, including several with ties to the Northwest. A 2,018-member choir, one of the largest vocal ensembles in Washington State history, will serve as a living backdrop to the show.

The Opening Ceremony will take place:

  • Sunday, July 1. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and the show will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m.
  • University of Washington Husky Stadium
  • General admission tickets are $20 and reserved seating is $65.
